When renovating your swimming pool it is the perfect time to modify your steps or benches. Steps and benches can usually be enlarged or add a sun shelf. Raise the deep end of your swimming pool so you can use the whole pool. Add a waterfall or shear descent. If your pool doesn’t have a spa, this is the perfect time to add one. This is also the perfect time to upgrade your pool equipment or add a salt generator. Schedule an appointment with a Crystal Blue Pool Renovation professional to go over your options.
The first step in our process is to inspect the interior surface of the pool for cracks, loose plaster and hollow areas. Once the areas have been identified, they must be repaired prior to the bond coat being applied. The Bond Coat is scientifically formulated surface preparation system designed to be used as a superior substrate to mechanically bond new pool coatings over existing plaster finishes.
Marcite plaster finish is the most popular and remains the standard finish for pools and spas. Marcite plaster is a simple mix of white marble dust and white cement and water, plaster is applied at a thickness of about ½” which makes it a very desirable and economical choice because of its smooth and durable surface and it creates a light blue appearance once filled with water. Plaster pumps are used to help you plaster a large area, such as a swimming pool. Instead of preparing the plaster and applying it onto a surface by hand, these machines do the work evenly and efficiently, eliminating the messy cleanup afterward. They easily move over rough surfaces, and you can control their flow speed and direction. The plaster is mixed directly in the pump into a smooth consistency, unlike when you mix plaster manually where there are often lumps. Although you can use any plaster pump to plaster a swimming pool, pool plaster pumps, are specifically designed for getting into an enclosed area and producing a smooth finish. Once the finish dries our crew will start the water in the deep end using your hose with rags wrapped around the hose to divert the water from running directly on the new plaster. Do not shut the water off until the pool is completely full. If you have a spa does not start the water in the spa until the pool is completely full.
